Many people say that wedding stationery is the most important part of a wedding. After all, your save the dates will set the tone for your wedding possibly years before the day itself! You need to get it right.
However, organising all of your wedding stationery can be a very complicated and overwhelming experience. Follow our easy countdown to make your life a little simpler!
12-15 months to go
Order save the dates : Now is the time to think about your colour scheme and if your wedding will have a theme. This is the first glimpse your friends and family will get of your wedding, so make sure you put a lot of thought into these.
9-12 months to go
Send save the dates: Make sure everyone who you want to come knows the crucial date! Send these as early as you can to give your guests the opportunity to get the time off work and make any travel arrangements.
Order invitations and RSVPs: Time to order the biggie – the all-important wedding invitations! These need to include the date, times and the location of the venues. Try to leave no stone unturned. Make sure to include a contact number, email or even a website link which guests can use to contact you with questions before the Big Day!
Order directions/maps: Make sure your guests know where to find you! You should include directions and a map of your venues to avoid any locational disasters on the day!
3-4 months to go
Send invitations and RSVPs: Now it’s time to send the formal invitation. Exciting! Make sure you leave enough time for all your guests to RSVP before you place your order for place names and create a table plan! It’s also a good idea to ask your guests about any dietary requirements!
2-3 months to go
Order the order of service: Once you have finalised details with your registrar or vicar, you will need to create an order of service for your ceremony. This will include the timings for your service or blessing, readings, prayers and hymns, amongst other information. They are an essential part of your wedding and your guests will wish to keep theirs forever as a memento!
1-2 months to go
Order table/place names and your table plan: Has everyone replied to your invitations? If so it is time to go ahead and think about your table plans! It can be a little difficult to get this right, so make sure you and your groom sit down and spend a good couple of hours thinking about this. You want each one of your guests to be seated on a table with at least one person they know, but it is also a good opportunity to get your guests to mix!
Your wedding day!
Yay! Have an amazing day and enjoy all your hard work!
3-4 weeks after
Order thank you notes: Now your big day is over and you have had time to admire all of the amazing wedding gifts, it is time to order your thank you notes! Remember – don’t just thank your guests for the presents. It is just as important to thank them for their company on your special day.
6-8 weeks after
Send thank you notes: Time to post those beautiful thank you notes! Now sit back, relax, and enjoy your first few months as husband and wife!
